Dr. Katerina Saltiki, Endocrinologist, MD, PhD
Dr. Katerina Saltiki, MD, PhD, is a graduate of both the School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA). She also holds a PhD from the UoA Medical School. As an undergraduate, she studied in France on a State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) grant. Her doctoral research focused on “the role of sex hormones and their receptors in women with coronary artery disease”.
She completed her specialty training in Endocrinology at the Therapeutic Clinic of UoA and the Endocrinology Department – Diabetes Center at Alexandra General Hospital.
Since 2006, Dr. Saltiki has served as a Scientific Associate, and for several years as Scientific and Clinical Lead at the Thyroid Neoplasia Outpatient Clinic of the endocrine, Diabetes & Metabolism Unit, Department of Clinical Therapeutics Athes University school of Medicine. She remains an active Senior Scientific Associate at the same clinic, focusing on thyroid neoplasms and associated genetic syndromes, as well as at the Unit for Clinical and Translational Research in Endocrinology, Athens University School of Medicine.
At the Thyroid Neoplasia Clinic, she has been involved in the clinical management of:
Dr. Saltiki has conducted laboratory research at the Molecular Biology Lab of the Endocrinology Department at Alexandra Hospital, as well as at the Hormone Laboratory of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Unit at the Eugenides Foundation. She has also participated as a co-investigator in international multicenter clinical trials focused on treatments for metastatic thyroid cancer.
She has extensive teaching experience, particularly in thyroid cancer, educating undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as endocrinology residents and specialists who have trained at the Thyroid Neoplasia Clinic.
Dr. Saltiki is the author of over 50 book chapters (in medical textbooks, academic publications in Greek and international literature), has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact international journals, and has contributed over 200 presentations to national and international medical congresses.
She has received more than twelve national and European awards for her scientific work. She is an active member of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE), the European Thyroid Association (ETA), and the Hellenic Endocrine Society (HES). She is a frequent invited speaker, particularly in subjects related to advanced and aggressive thyroid cancer.
